Oversee the sustainable development and strategic direction of canyoning in the UK.

  • Positively represent the UK canyoning community. 
  • Ensure appropriate anchors exist in canyons.
  • Negotiate canyoning access with landowners.

Districts

Council members work together in their local districts to focus on developing the local area.

The UK key canyoning regions have been divided up into the following districts;

  • Northern Scotland
  • Central Scotland
  • Southern Scotland 
  • England
  • Isle of Man
  • North Wales
  • South Wales 

Members

All of the members of the UKCC are passionate about canyoning and committed to facilitating the sustainable growth of canyoning in the UK. Both recreational and commercial canyoners are welcomed as members. If you are passionate about UK Canyoning, you can be invited to join by current council members.

All members operate on a volunteer basis. 

FAQ's

Is the UKCC responsible for the anchors found in UK canyons?

No. Canyoning anchors are typically installed by private individuals and must always be carefully inspected prior to loading. 

Do you guarantee the safety of anchors installed by the UKCC?

No. The council will ensure anchors are installed to standards set by the manufacturer and the UKCA (when applicable) however after installation anchors are left unattended and must be inspected prior to loading. 

How do I report a problem to the council?

You can leave a comment on the canyons page, fill out our ‘amend’ form or Email Canyonlog@mail.com. 

How is the council funded?

The council is run entirely by volunteers, anchors are funded privately or by donation.

When was the council established?

The UKCC was formed in August 2025.

How many members are in the council?

Between 2-6 members per region.
