SSSI so take care and stay in the flow. Water level indicator online at River Esk - Cropple How. At 0.6m, final 15m abseil has medium flow.
Description
Approach from car park at Trough House to the get in at the footbridge above the falls. The cantilevered viewing platform offers an ideal spot to check the water level on approach. The canyon is soon fully encased so ensure A2 anchors are in suitable condition before pulling ropes on A1. Most abseils are in the flow and anchors are often in exposed positions so care is required, particularly in high water. A5 has a full void traverse line installed to alternative high water anchor, and guideline anchors. Optional final abseil is low quality and no anchors installed so preferred exit right onto traverse path. Page information Dan P / WCGST
