Description

Could be very fun in high flows. 10 min in from parking at gate to farm track (56°24'53.2"N 3°48'00.6"W). Entry is from bridge with pipes with first pitch immediately next to bridge (56°25'06.1"N 3°48'28.1"W). A15m from tree on TL just over fence into pitch broken by shallow pool, into shallow pool A10m from large log across the canyon into shallow pool A10m with difficult anchors into deep pool with log jam. For the anchor, good trees are far back and may be hard to pull. We used full 40m rope from tree on bank on TR about 10m back from pitch head. A15 into deep pool, possible as a careful down climb. Exit is arduous scramble up TL whenever its possible (there's no where better for a while downstream) (approx 56°24'52.4"N 3°48'38.0"W).

Canyon Experience :

Fun first descent with Dougie.

The pitches are surprisingly entertaining, especially combined with low stakes ghosting, and there are a couple of deep pools to justify the wetsuit. One of them might go as a jump if there wasn’t a giant tree in it. The canyon is quite enclosed (30m?) but its all steep tree covered banks so just about escapable everywhere.

I think a good place to practice some ghosting, maybe combine it with Barvick, and it would probably go in quite high water.

Upstream there are some smaller cascades and pools too which might be entertaining scramble down on a nice day.
