Lower Bruar today was in high flow so I suspect the hydro works are still ongoing as it has been pretty dry recently.
Looks like additional fixed handlines have been set to aid commercial groups in current water conditions. We spotted mountain rescue practicing their skills below the main bridge
Descended on the 7/08/24. team of 4. water level was moderate to high when we got in and high when we got out. great canyon, has lots of good features with limited scrambling. the canyon has been pulsing which creates lots of fun challenges for experienced teams, only attempt to descend this canyon in its current state if everyone in your team is comfortable in high flow (A5+) conditions and be prepared to exit early if levels come up. Some jumps have ledges to avoid so best done with someone who knows where to jump in the pools as they can’t be check when the canyon levels come up. If unsure about levels, wait for dam works to be finished (mid September).
From Facebook on October 12th 2023: Bruar today upper and lower, low medium level. Bolts seem ok, some needed a tighten. Some movement in the pools but mostly seem clear of debris. Insitu handline above slide on lower section is looking a bit damaged, with the core showing at points. Class day out in the Bruar as always 🤙
