Name of River: Eas a' Choin. (Duror river is nearby but not linked to this canyon). New ring bolts installed on all falls below the 250m contour - 07/2026

Description

Approach by Car: Park at Kentallen & Duror Community centre across from the canyon. Approach by foot: Approach river right up the steep hillside - better to skirt round the quarry to the north before entering the canyon around the 250m contour. Approach can be tricky to find when the bracken is high. Canyon descent: Multiple short pitches with mono bolts may be down-climbable in low water. Escape possible before main events - see topo. No jumps Exit: The canyon will become a rocky river, exit on the right here onto the footpath.

Canyon Experience :

New bolted anchors installed July 26. Double ring bolts on larger falls, and safety line bolt to access the exposed belay for the main event. Topo updated. Great trip, tricky walk in!

Descended on 27/6/23. Team of 2 in high flow. Entered the canyon above the start only to find multiple DC’s leading to the true start of the canyon. the drops in the canyon are quite interesting with lines going into the flow. if you have time you can check out the cave below one of the big drops. If you’re planning on descending and have the skill too, id recommend the next team in places some bolts to make for a safer trip.
