River Name: Allt Mhuic
This canyon is located inside a butterfly reserve, minimise damage on the approach and stay in the river during the descent. Lots of fallen trees in the upper section of the gorge.
Description
Park in the butterfly reserve car park, follow the obvious track up the hill until you get to the small power station, here you can check the water level. Head back about 50m out of the trees and follow the tree line on a faint track until you reach the road at the top. Cross the road and enter the canyon above the bridge on the TL. Canyon is slippery with the top of some drops requiring extra care to approach safely. pools are hard to check due to pool colour, expect quite a few underwater ledges. Exit at the power station.

High flows today 23/06/25, great run through, lots of new trees down in the various pools and the top bolt in the first AB/ jump is quite loose (its a bolt hanger so can be tightened if you take in a spanner).
Descended on 11/08/2023. Group of 2, water level was moderate. Good fun to effort ratio. Pools are still deep enough to jump however lots of fallen trees in the upper section, any future teams with a saw handy could sort this out. Lots of slippery down climbing which make for some tricky take off’s from some of the jumps. Inspect pools carefully, some (which you can’t see the bottom of) are too shallow and have submerged shelves to avoid.
