Pilgrim's Choice

Summary
Fun, easy access canyon with a few nice pitches. Mostly escapable, and the explored pitches are quite wide so probably would go in high flow.

Notes
Named after the unusually named croft that appears on the map next to the canyon "Jerusalem". Undescended below the old railway bridge as we were benighted. I suspect there's at least two more pitches. We will return to complete it and make the topo etc. when the weather warms up again.
Description
Park in layby opposite sailing club. Walk up track, crossing the old railway line which is now a cycle path. Continue up the zig zag track on the other side of the cycle path, passing a small stone house. (You can also walk a minute up the cycle path to a bridge to look into the canyon. ) The track eventually crosses the stream at a bridge, get in here. First pitch is a series of shelves which can be climbed around. Then a moderate gorge walk - probably best to skirt the canyon river left until the next pitch. Second pitch is a split pitch which can be descended in the smaller flow river left off a tree. This leads to a climb down into a small enclosure with some jumping possibilites (though there is currently a big log lurking in the water). Following this is a long low angle pitch. Probably climbable on river left but also many tree anchors around. The bottom half has two good slides. Shortly after is a very wide cascade which can be descended in flow off a tree river right. Escape possible river left which allows descending to the railway path.
